"The fact is 41% of all the hacking in the world stems from China!"
At one point it was said that China trained 20% of their military personnel to be expert hackers. If we were talking a military that consisted of a small number it wouldn't be a big deal. In China's case we're talking a large number of hackers that are trained in cyber attack. To get an accurate number of the size of China's military has become difficult. At one time it was said that they had a 200 million man army, currently they only claim to have 2.3 million for frontlines and more in reserves, however they also claim to have over 600 million ready and capable to fight. These numbers have been played with obviously. Especially now all of a sudden the media is talking about this threat. The fact is 41% of all cyber attacks stem from China. This has been looming in the background for years as an ominous threat. Now the media is worried about the security of Miss Teen USA's webcam? You can't make this stuff up!!
These men aren't focused on webcam girls, they're focused on infrastructure!
So much of our world is now controlled by computers... Our water supply, money, power grid, communications, etc. Computers are a significant part of every American's life, whether they're aware of it or not. Now all of a sudden the media is covering this threat. Edward Snowden came forward and told the public what he knew of our own government's atrocious use of these technologies. I assure you that pales in comparison to what the possibilities are of an aggressive attack that shuts down real world systems that affect our infrastructure. Does this excuse the passive aggressive spying done by our own NSA? Absolutely not, however the propensity of much more malicious use is a very real threat in our computer dependent world. If only 5 men can do what is alleged by our government against these private corporations, do you think 40 million more of their military can do way more damage? If you said yes, you'd be correct in your assumption.
